[REVIEW] NIRWANA RESORT HOTEL (NIRWANA DELUXE) at NIRWANA GARDENS, BINTAN INDONESIA

9:00 AM

Whenever we want a quick fix for our itchy feet, Bintan Resorts have always been our go-to. Whether it is just for me and my hubby or for our friends and relatives visiting us here in Singapore, we find Bintan Resorts the perfect destination to satisfy our beach and outdoor cravings.

Since our stay in Nirwana Resort Hotel in 2011, which I talked to you about in this post, we never failed to visit Nirwana Gardens every year. Yes, every year. No exaggerations. Sometimes, even twice a year. We just love the fact that it's so easy to get there. The accommodations are fine and the customer service is great!

So how to get there, Becca?

If you're coming from Singapore, it's very easy. Simply take a bus or train ride (depending on where you're from in Singapore) to Tanah Merrah Ferry Terminal and from there, it'll just be a 45-minute boat ride to Bintan Resorts Ferry Terminal. After successfully passing through Indonesia Immigration, there will be a bus waiting for you to take you to Nirwana Gardens Resort Hotel.

Our stay

We normally book one of their suites but because there were 5 of us on this trip, we booked 2 deluxe rooms for our first night and their 2-bedroom villa at Indra Maya Pool Villa for our second night. That way, our guests will have a taste of both worlds.

When we arrived at the resort at around 11:30ish, there was someone waiting for us with a placard with my hubby's name on it. So instead of going through the normal process of checking in, we were ushered to Nirwana Lounge where we got to sit comfortably while one of the staff went through the check-in details with my hubby. Nice! Very nice!

PERKS OF BEING A LOYAL CUSTOMER

Since we've been loyal customers to Nirwana Gardens for years, my hubby has earned the Gold Membership card, which entitled him to some awesome perks. One of those is being ushered to the Nirwana Lounge for our check-in process instead of queuing at the reception area. Another perk is being allowed to check-in early at no extra charge. The standard check-in time is 3PM but since we arrived there at like 11:30ish, we were given our rooms at least 2 hours early. Ain't that great?!

THE ROOMS

As mentioned earlier, we booked 2 deluxe rooms but since there were three of them and only me and my hubby in the other room, we had a king bed while they had a twin bed.

Although our aunt said they're okay with just the two beds already available in the room, we still requested for an extra one for their daughter.

the extra bed hasn't yet been delivered at this time

We heard that the rooms were recently renovated and it's pretty obvious as their furniture seem to be new. The rooms have pretty much all the basic things we would need. As always, there were cute bottles of shampoos and conditioners, flat iron and ironing board as well as indoor slippers.

They have air-conditioning, in-room safe, color TV with local and satellite channels, IDD telephone, hairdryer, mini bar fridge, ceiling fan, complimentary coffee/tea-making facilities and complimentary basic WiFi access and usage. Both rooms also come with complimentary daily buffet breakfast at The Coffee Shop.

Although there were no bathrobes, it’s not really a big deal because we’d just be staying there for one night.

Amenities

The resort offers 24-hour In-Room dining services so if you don’t want to go out to eat, simply call for room service.  They have laundry & pressing service, which we have never used before even when we visit Nirwana Gardens yearly. We just didn’t find a need for it.

They have a Business Centre and a Currency Exchange service. You also don’t need to worry if you ever get sick while you’re at the resort because they have Medical Service as well. They have a Mini Mart located at the lobby in case you forgot some of your necessities like sunblock and/or body cover-up. And if you want to buy souvenirs, they have a Boutique & Gift Shop also located at the lobby.

The pool and the sea

I have to admit, the infinity pool of Nirwana Resort Hotel is not really the best among all the pools we’ve seen as we’ve been to a lot of places already with gigantic pools and glorious views. However, there’s just something about it that makes me feel very happy. This is most probably a personal thing but I really like their Infinity pool, especially when I’m at the edge where I can stare at the unobstructed view of the sea for as long as I want.

We also love it that the sea is not for viewing only. The water is nice and still, its calmness is so irresistible that you'd definitely want to dip and have a relaxing swim. The sand is soft and fine, the gentle waves seem like inviting you to walk across its powdery shore.

Any freebies?

With our stay at Nirwana Resort Hotel, we got to avail of bowling and kayaking vouchers.

Feedback

-       Whoever cleaned and prepared our room before we checked in left some used tissue paper on the bedside table. I just threw it away and considered it a small matter.
-       The tissue box in our room only had a few sheets? Maybe 4 or 5 only?? Why???!!
-       When we returned from our dinner from Kelong, we found out that someone might have entered the room we booked for our guests because my aunt said her bag was opened as well as their door connecting to our room. Whoever entered the room without permission might have also thought of invading our room through the connecting doors, but failed because ours was closed. It was a relief that nothing was stolen but the thought of someone entering our rooms without our explicit permission is just very alarming. I must say, though, that this is the very first time we had an issue like this at Nirwana Gardens. When we reported this to their management, they checked their CCTV and reported back to us that no one entered. Whether that's true or not, we don't really know.

FINAL WORDS

Regardless of the fiasco about our other room, Nirwana Gardens will remain dear to our hearts. It will remain our go-to destination whenever we need some quick pick-me-up & relaxation and will forever be included in our list of recommended resorts to friends and families.
